• “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every
    disease and every sickness among the people” (Matthew 4:23).

    A lot of people crowded around Jesus to listen to Him and to get healed. Jesus felt compassion towards
    the poor and the sick around him. Jesus healed many sick people and raised the dead.

    Once a leper came to Jesus, bowed down before Him and prayed to heal him. Jesus stretched out His hand
    lovingly and touched Him. The leper was cured.

    Another day, Jesus was teaching the people. Some people carried a paralysed man and brought him to Jesus.
    They were not able to reach Jesus because of the thick crowd. They climbed up the roof, removed the bricks and let him down to Jesus. Commenting on their faith Jesus said

    “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven” Again Jesus said to him: “Stand up, take your bed and go to your home” (Matthew 9:2).
    Immediately the paralysed man was healed. He took up his cot and went home.

    Jesus started his return journey from Jericho. On the way, there were two blind men. Hearing the
    foot steps of Jesus, they cried aloud:“Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”(Matthew 20:30).
    Jesus felt compassion for them. Jesus touched their eyes. They regained their sight.

    Wherever Jesus went, people brought the sick to him. He felt sympathy for them and healed them.

    Jesus is compassionate and merciful. He is merciful towards the suffering. Jesus came to this world to eradicate our pains

    Just as Jesus was merciful, we too have to be merciful. It is Jesus' wish that we be merciful and loving.

    Jesus says: “Be merciful,Just as your Father is merciful”(Luke 6:36).

    Let us sing

    He sent me to give the good news to the poor,
    Tell prisoners that they are prisoners no more,
    Tell blind people that they can see,
    And set the downtrodden free;
    And go tell everyone
    The news that the kingdom of God has come;
    And go tell everyone
    The news that God's kingdom has come.

    Let us pray

    Glorify the Lord, O my soul!

    Do not forget His blessings.
    He forgives your sins.
    He heals your sickness
